Salary £Excellent + Package
I am leading a search for an SoC Multimedia Team Lead to lead up to 10 engineers for an award-winning semiconductor company that is a brand new entrant to the NI market. Established in 2005, they are headquartered in Dublin with design-centres in Ireland, Europe and the Far East. As part of the next stage of development they have set up a circa £2.5m R&D operation in Belfast to spearhead new product development.
They boost multimedia functionality of mobile phones and other PDAs by using revolutionary technology to create the ability to capture, and edit high resolution video, directly on a mobile for example, and then be shared on worldwide social networking sites like Facebook, and You Tube. Their strategic focus is on the design and development of original technologies which allow mobile phone manufacturers to provide these superb mobile video and photo experiences. The new Belfast centre, will bring together the cream of engineers with established track-records in bringing complex digital semiconductor devices, embedded video and image-processing software to market using their experience in Embedded Software and System on Chip (SoC) design and development.
As the lead of an engineering team, the multimedia team leader is expected to provide technical leadership, hands-on development and mentoring to the team. The multimedia team leader is also expected to lead the development team in such areas as planning activities, task break-down, project monitoring and reviews. You will participate in establishing and updating development processes, making sure that your team builds deliverables according to the established standards and conventions, and ensure that deliverables created by the team are reviewed and are checked against standards and conventions. Also you'll get invovled with the hiring and selection process at the request of the R&D centre manager.
I am looking for top candidates with comparable achievements in a few key areas:
- Architectural modeling and benchmarking experience for complex real-time multimedia software products using Matlab, C etc.
- Architecture and Development of video codec software for standards such as H.264 or OpenGL ES at high resolutions and frame-rates
- Embedded real-time software development in C for platforms such as ARM or TI DSPs including optimisation
This position is for the new Belfast operation but you will need to be able to travel as part of the projects, and conference calls will also need to take place in different time zones. For an initial discussion in confidence please email stuart dot millar at altmore dot co uk or send your CV through this site. We are acting as an Employment Agency for this role.
Because of our knowledge of and experience in the N.I. IT skills market, and the depth and breadth of our candidate relationships, we are frequently invited to meet with potential IT and technology investors looking at setting up or expanding sites here. Frequently these companies will have skill profiles that they'd potentially like to hire for in N.I. Since these profiles are not yet "live" jobs, we are unable to advertise them. However, if we can demonstrate that the people with the skills are here, often the companies will be tempted to open a site. Those candidates who we may have introduced speculatively as part of the attraction process are usually at a distinct advantage when it comes to filling any new jobs. If you'd like to be kept aware of new developments like this, that are below the radar and not advertised, please contact us and we can arrange a meeting.
