Champions League C#.NET Engineers Brand New NI Entrant
Salary £Excellent + private medical + possible pension (TBA)
I am leading an urgent search for several skilled .NET developers striving to be at the pinnacle of their profession to join NaviNet one of Northern Irelands newest multi-million pound technology investments from the US to work on key greenfield developments and value added services working out of their brand new 2010 launched Belfast base which is home to the European development team. I placed the Site Lead for this NaviNet and whilst this team numbers only a handful right now, it will grow to twenty by the end of this year and ultimately sixty over three years. These roles are at various levels, and offers can be turned around within two weeks if needed. There will be a period of technology transfer for a week or so when the whole team will go to the US, but after that it will be back to home turf in Belfast to get stuck in.
This American firm provide web access to a variety of custom transactions and are used by over 800,000 providers across the US. The web site provides efficiencies and cost-savings to both their customers and the offices that use their product by converting paper and telephone-based workflows to electronic workflows that are accessed easily within a browser. In addition, they provide a number of value-add transactions with other software applications, such as payments or revenue cycles. These features range from those that are jointly developed with customers and partners, to those that are a common part of their core offering and are developed entirely by their staff.
You’ll be responsible for the design and development of a web portal, software components and services on the .NET platform with SQL Server. NaviNet utilize a variety of transport and wire protocols to integrate capabilities within their SOA based topology and across to customers’ systems. They aim for an extremely high level of end user satisfaction by going to great lengths to make sure that their product meets needs, and truly drives improved efficiencies. Whether working closely with a customer to deliver a custom workflow, or with your colleagues to deliver a value-add feature, high quality products are the norm. This drive for quality is key to Belfast – nothing will leave the door for the States unless it works.
I am looking for deep C# and .NET talent with experience of all stages of the software life cycle, who understand design patterns, can perhaps work with Spring.NET, various modules like nHibernate, and have worked across all tiers of a multi-tier SOA platform. You can pick up a requirements spec, perform analysis on it, design the solution, code it, and test the solution – the works. To succeed in the role you need to be able to work with front-ends, middle tier logic, and back-end data stores. You don’t need to be an expert at every single tier though you could have worked on or across all tiers, and be skilled in designing and implementing various abstractions across these layers, like ORM and Data Access to Data Stores, MVC around GUIs or Communication Frameworks for inter-process communication.
You’ll be able to point to successful project experience of message-driven and event-driven systems that are synchronous and asynchronous, local and remote, using XML based messages, batch file transfer or transformation, plus think in industry-proven design principles and patterns. Crucial to this role is an appreciation of system architecture and sub-system design. As a well rounded .NET engineer you can take design principles from the high-level view and apply them down to the code structure, ensuring the solution fits into the architecture, design, interfaces and data models used within an existing framework (or a new framework being developed by the rest of the team). As a key player you need to be able to look at a work package, look at the requirements, work with business analysts and product managers in the US, code and submit your unit tests simultaneously. These are fantastic opportunities with true long term potential.

Because of our knowledge of and experience in the N.I. IT skills market, and the depth and breadth of our candidate relationships, we are frequently invited to meet with potential IT and technology investors looking at setting up or expanding sites here. Frequently these companies will have skill profiles that they'd potentially like to hire for in N.I. Since these profiles are not yet "live" jobs, we are unable to advertise them. However, if we can demonstrate that the people with the skills are here, often the companies will be tempted to open a site. Those candidates who we may have introduced speculatively as part of the attraction process are usually at a distinct advantage when it comes to filling any new jobs. If you'd like to be kept aware of new developments like this, that are below the radar and not advertised, please contact us and we can arrange a meeting.
