Dazzling Java & Ruby Technical Leader
Salary £Excellent + Package
I am leading a search for a brilliant Technical Leader to join one of Europe’s fastest growing and most promising product companies that is on the cusp of greatness. Based in Belfast they develop and implement web and internet based information management applications and have 40-50 key customers currently. They’ve just secured a significant amount of funding from government and banking sources and with several well known and respected Northern Irish and Irish business and technology individuals advising the firm recently, 2010 is set to be their most exciting year yet.
Recently their bespoke software suite has turned into a much more modular system. An agile software development process is in place along with new systems and procedures in place. Now a technical leader is needed to come in with a focus on getting stuck in and developing. You will not be bogged down in management task, far from it – sitting idly in meeting after meeting is not on the cards here. You’ll do application development yourself as well as advising two other domain-expert developers. The technology stack is J2EE, Linux, Spring MVC, Hibernate and Struts frameworks. You’ll need previous project experience as a lead on agile projects, for example using Rapid Application Development. What would be perfect is someone who has a strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails too, or someone keen to learn about this technology on the job, but it is not a deal breaker. There is ample headroom to grow into and adapt to technologies you haven’t used before. There is a stable development environment and full software life cycle with continuous integration for the product suite, with MVC architecture now introduced.
Again I stress there will not be a lot of management in this role, but you need to have the balance to realise the existing process and architecture cannot be ripped to shreds if you don’t like it. Ramping up the utilisation software suite is a major objective, as is the integration of their suite with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. They are creating a communications-based social environment integrating all these big names, with a suite of collaboration portals to create a digital community, and they also expose their own API to 3rd Parties who integrate their products to leverage the wealth of content and opportunities in the systems. As the technical leader for the product suite, all this is under your direction and control!
I am looking for a top-level candidate of the highest calibre who is an experienced self-starter, capable of leading by example; an enthusiastic architect, developer and prototyper who will inspire the rest of the team with an innovative and creative application of their experience combined with the best tools available. You will be inspired by and experienced in the opportunities to create enterprise hosted web applications and communities-based infrastructure. My client will accept nothing but the best and the MD is looking for true long term buy-in from the successful individual. There is also scope to be involving the hiring process in the future for one or two senior software engineers but this is not an immediate requirement. This buy-in is evident in the package prepared, with a strong bonus and reward scheme, plus a share option pool that is very attractive.
