Trailblazing Business Development Director
Salary £Excellent + Package
I am leading a search for a real go-getting, pace-setting Business Development Director to join one of Europe’s fastest growing and most promising product companies that is on the cusp of greatness. Based in Belfast they develop and implement web and internet based information management applications and have 40-50 key customers currently. They’ve just secured a significant amount of funding from government and banking sources and with several well known and respected Northern Irish and Irish business and technology individuals advising the firm recently, 2010 is set to be their most exciting year yet.
You will be the leading player in the Sales, Partner and Client management team. I’m after someone who is a self-starter, someone who can come in and run with what is in place already and suggest more. The Business Development Director will not be dictated to nor reined in by the MD. The Business Development Director will drive for new business - big time. You will set the priorities, you will drive it. Reporting directly to the MD, you will have an Engagement Manager who in turn will report to you. Guidance will be minimal from the MD because you will be expected to have worked on several projects like this in the past, perhaps run your own company even - but you need to have the balance to realise the business model cannot be ripped to shreds if you don’t like it.
Ramping up the utilisation of their now recently turned modular software suite is a major objective, as is the integration of their suite with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. You will deal with top level executives with enterprises like Google too for example so you need to be comfortable dealing with senior people, making decisions and have a robust strength of conviction in your character. There will be some travel as well to UK and Ireland sites.
Whilst trailblazing upward and onward, prospecting, engaging and closing new customers and new partners, independent software vendors and resellers, the Business Development Director will also be responsible for penetrating major significant target prospects, implementing sales/marketing tactics and defining and executing a multi year growth plan for existing customers. The role is of course client-facing too after initial contact, as you liaise with the client to understand, at a high level, their architecture, applications and network requirements, current and future, and communicate them back to the product management / development organization. The business will depend on you to identify and evaluate additional revenue streams and act as a liaison between the business and resellers to develop a team selling approach with a Pre Sales team. Ultimately, seven figure sales figures are the aim in the next 12 months.
I am looking for a top level character who can point to leading previous successful projects such as this. You will be truly customer focused and with exceptional evidence of unerring results, high productivity and meeting deadlines. These projects ideally will have been around selling web based platforms and thus have developed your own domain knowledge in this area, and perhaps also that of digital marketing or software development. But don’t worry, this is not a technical role. Most importantly, persistence and the ability to win consistently are vital. My client will accept nothing but the best and the MD is looking for true buy-in from the successful individual. There is also scope to be involving the hiring process in the future. This buy-in is evident in the package prepared, with a strong bonus and reward scheme, plus a share option pool that is very attractive.
A famous actor once said – “Lunch is for wimps”, and the sequel to that film is in production with a working title of “Money never sleeps”. Whilst my client are nowhere near as impersonal as Wall Street they are no less driven and expectations are just as high. If you think you can match them, for an initial discussion in total confidence please drop me an email to stuart dot millar at altmore dot co dot uk or send your CV via this site. The timeline is fairly short so the quicker the better. Feel free to add my IM address altmorestuart at hotmail dot co dot uk to chat to me from your desk too as I know it can be hard to talk on the phone.
Because of our knowledge of and experience in the N.I. IT skills market, and the depth and breadth of our candidate relationships, we are frequently invited to meet with potential IT and technology investors looking at setting up or expanding sites here. Frequently these companies will have skill profiles that they'd potentially like to hire for in N.I. Since these profiles are not yet "live" jobs, we are unable to advertise them. However, if we can demonstrate that the people with the skills are here, often the companies will be tempted to open a site. Those candidates who we may have introduced speculatively as part of the attraction process are usually at a distinct advantage when it comes to filling any new jobs. If you'd like to be kept aware of new developments like this, that are below the radar and not advertised, please contact us and we can arrange a meeting.
We are acting as an Employment Agency for this role.
