Computer Games Development Fanatics
C++ Intermediate Game Developer C++
Salary £Excellent + Package
Having placed the last Games Developer with this highly rated client, I am leading a search for further C or C++ Games Developers. They are an independent multi-platform video game developer based in Derry, Northern Ireland, established at the end of 2006. They have a strong management team whose previous experience ranges from launching start-up companies, to running multinational corporations. They have been growing over the years to be recognised as a development house delivering high quality, original, fun games. They currently develop for PC and Xbox360, with the PS3 platform planned to follow in 2010. Key languages are C or C++.
The studio was born of a sister company, which is based just a few minutes away in the beautiful countryside of Co. Donegal, Ireland. Our client are utilising this companies middleware solution to develop their first title which they plan to release in 2010 on PC and Xbox360.
In this role you'll be working in a team of three developers (part of a wider team of twelve, comprising R&D, QA and management) on exciting, cutting edge games titles, with the 2010 release being an arcade single and multiplayer title, immersing the player in a fantastic take on a World War I setting, with beefed-up aircraft and a huge array of weaponry at their disposal. Detailed enviornments include deserts, racing through snow capped mountains or flying through an underground mining system. This title was massively well received at Game Connection in Lyon recently, a pan-European gaming convention. Your aim will be to utilise your C++ or C skill to ensure the player enjoys a unique arcade experience, and if you've a physics or mathematics orientated mind then this will help aid levels of realism.
I am looking for top candidates with successful accomplishments in a few key areas:
- at least one full games title developed in C or C++
- graphics programming (graphics algorithms, terrain rendering, DirectX, shader development or similar)
- working in a team environment
If you've a physics or maths orientated background then this will help aid levels of modelling realism. Are you a gamer who can develop in C++ or C? This is the dream job for you - what other role can offer you working with a product you are passionate about day in, day out? This position will give you the chance to show your enthusiasm for games development, apply logical, mathematical thinking, mentor more junior C++ or C programmers, and get involved in shaping and improving their SDLC.
Our client prides themselves on making new employees feel at home in their new offices and offer help with the sometimes difficult first few weeks. They are a team of friendly, like minded professionals and enthusiasts who are always eager to help and share their C++ or C knowledge. They operate a "core hours" system which means that you can leave earlier or arrive later and have an open plan office with your own desk and telephone, high spec PC with dual monitors and plenty of personal space.
Then you'll down tools at lunch times and after hours for gaming sessions. At the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about? Their office is located directly beneath a large shopping centre offering everything you could possibly need under one roof, even with a fully equipped kitchen. Last but not least they have excellent free car parking with plenty of spaces at the front entrance of the office.

Because of our knowledge of and experience in the N.I. IT skills market, and the depth and breadth of our candidate relationships, we are frequently invited to meet with potential IT and technology investors looking at setting up or expanding sites here. Frequently these companies will have skill profiles that they'd potentially like to hire for in N.I. Since these profiles are not yet "live" jobs, we are unable to advertise them. However, if we can demonstrate that the people with the skills are here, often the companies will be tempted to open a site. Those candidates who we may have introduced speculatively as part of the attraction process are usually at a distinct advantage when it comes to filling any new jobs. If you'd like to be kept aware of new developments like this, that are below the radar and not advertised, please contact us and we can arrange a meeting.
